Protecting Kenosha County families begins with enforcing the law and holding drug traffickers accountable. Under Sheriff David Zoerner's leadership, the Kenosha Sheriff's Department continues to aggressively target the illegal drug trade through the Kenosha Drug Operations Group (KDOG) and strong partnerships with local law enforcement.
In February 2023, KDOG, working alongside the Kenosha Sheriff's Department Tactical Response Team and the Kenosha Police Department Special Investigations Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence in the City of Kenosha following a narcotics investigation.
The operation resulted in the arrest of a suspect and the seizure of more than 883 grams of marijuana products, cocaine, heroin, and over $2,500 in suspected drug proceeds. Investigators also uncovered evidence of a suspected illegal dog breeding operation, leading to the rescue of 23 dogs and puppies. The animal welfare investigation was referred to the appropriate authorities.
The suspect was charged with multiple felony offenses, including possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of cocaine, possession of heroin, and maintaining a drug house. Several of the charges carried enhanced penalties because the crimes allegedly occurred within 1,000 feet of a school, underscoring the threat posed to children and neighborhoods.
Most importantly, the operation was completed without injury to law enforcement officers, civilians, or the rescued animals.
Sheriff David Zoerner has made it clear that drug traffickers have no place in Kenosha County.
"Our deputies and our law enforcement partners remain committed to taking illegal drugs off our streets and protecting the people of Kenosha County. We will continue to pursue those who profit from narcotics and work every day to keep our neighborhoods safe."
As Sheriff, David Zoerner has expanded proactive drug enforcement through KDOG, strengthened partnerships with federal, state, and local agencies, and focused on disrupting criminal organizations before they can victimize more families. His commitment is simple: enforce the law, protect our communities, and ensure Kenosha County remains a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.
