Zoerner-Led Investigation Dismantles Criminal Network Involving Drugs, Fraud, Mail Theft, and Burglaries

Sheriff David Zoerner has made it clear that protecting Kenosha County requires aggressively targeting organized criminal activity that combines drug trafficking, fraud, and property crimes. Under his leadership, the Kenosha County Sheriff's Office continues to prioritize investigations that disrupt criminal networks and remove repeat offenders from the community.

In May 2026, detectives with the Kenosha County Sheriff's Office Detectives Bureau, the Kenosha Drug Operations Group (KDOG), and uniformed deputies concluded a major investigation into a series of fraud complaints tied to stolen mail. Over approximately six weeks, investigators determined that personal and business checks were being stolen from mailboxes, altered, and fraudulently used to obtain money.

As the investigation progressed, detectives uncovered evidence linking multiple suspects to additional criminal activity, including narcotics distribution and burglaries connected to storage units in the Antioch, Illinois area.

On May 19, 2026, deputies and detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in Trevor, Wisconsin, where four individuals were taken into custody. During the search, investigators recovered a substantial amount of evidence related to drug trafficking, fraud, and burglary activity.

Items seized included methamphetamine, marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, MDMA, cocaine, fraudulent and altered checks, check-washing materials, burglary tools, identification documents belonging to other individuals, suspected stolen property, digital scales, and additional drug paraphernalia.

Preliminary charges were recommended against multiple suspects, including offenses related to possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, maintaining a drug trafficking place, mail theft, fraud, possession of burglary tools, and felony bail jumping. Additional charges remain under review as the investigation continues.

The Kenosha County Sheriff's Office is also coordinating with law enforcement partners in Lake County, Illinois regarding related burglary investigations tied to storage unit thefts.
