Sheriff David Zoerner believes that protecting families means aggressively targeting violent criminals, convicted felons, and drug traffickers before they can do more harm. Through the Kenosha Drug Operations Group (KDOG), the Sheriff's Department continues to take proactive action against those who threaten the safety of Kenosha County neighborhoods.
In February 2023, deputies received information about a wanted convicted felon living in the Village of Salem Lakes. The suspect was quickly located and arrested while in possession of cocaine and marijuana. As the investigation continued, KDOG detectives obtained a search warrant for the suspect's residence.
The search uncovered a significant cache of illegal drugs, firearms, ammunition, and evidence of drug trafficking, including:
Two firearms
More than 40 grams of cocaine
More than 375 grams of marijuana products
Psilocybin and other Schedule II controlled substances
Ammunition
Drug packaging materials and paraphernalia
Cash believed to be connected to illegal drug activity
The investigation did not stop there. Working with the Twin Lakes Police Department, KDOG executed a second search warrant at an associated residence in the Village of Twin Lakes. A second suspect was taken into custody on multiple felony drug and weapons charges, while investigators sought additional felony charges against a third individual connected to the operation.
This successful investigation removed illegal drugs and firearms from local communities while disrupting a criminal network operating within Kenosha County. The operation demonstrates the value of strong partnerships between local law enforcement agencies and the Sheriff's Office's commitment to pursuing criminals wherever the evidence leads.
"Our deputies, KDOG detectives, and our law enforcement partners work tirelessly to keep dangerous criminals, illegal drugs, and illegal firearms off our streets. By working together, we are making Kenosha County a safer place for our families and sending a clear message that criminal activity will not be tolerated."
Sheriff Zoerner has made drug enforcement a top priority by expanding proactive investigations, strengthening partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies, and ensuring that those who traffic narcotics and illegally possess firearms are held accountable. His focus remains on protecting neighborhoods, supporting law enforcement, and keeping Kenosha County safe.
