Zoerner's Sheriff's Office Acts Swiftly to Protect Children and Investigate Allegations of Abuse

Sheriff David Zoerner believes that protecting children is one of the most important responsibilities of law enforcement. When allegations of abuse involving minors arise, his administration is committed to acting quickly, conducting thorough investigations, and ensuring those responsible are held accountable.

In October 2024, the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department's Sensitive Crimes Unit launched an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct involving a staff member at Riverview Elementary School. Detectives immediately began gathering evidence and coordinating with school officials to ensure the safety of students while preserving the integrity of the investigation.

As part of the investigation, detectives took the suspect into custody on criminal charges, with investigators continuing to examine the facts to determine whether additional charges were warranted. Early in the investigation, detectives determined the alleged misconduct did not occur on school property or during school hours. The Sheriff's Office continued working closely with the school district throughout the investigation.

Sheriff Zoerner also encouraged anyone with additional information to come forward so investigators could fully examine every aspect of the case.
